Advantages / Disadvantages
Small Aircraft Charter vs. The Scheduled Airlines

ADVANTAGES

1) Your Schedule, Not Someone Else's:
You choose the go time; Return when you are finished.
2) Your Destination; Not Just the Major Airports:
95% of suitable airports are not serviced by the airlines, for $ reasons.
We fly to 85% of all FAA recognized airports with > 3000' hard surface runways.
3) No Commute:
You leave locally: Return locally. No travel to Nashville or Knoxville.
4) No Parking Hassles:
You park at our airport; no fee$; no carting luggage.
5) No Lost Luggage:
You are never more than 6' from your carry on possessions.
6) Cost$:
We are very competitive with 1 week advance business class airline charges, especially with 2, 3, or 4 passengers. We charge no Passenger Facility Fees($4.50), sales tax, extra baggage fee$, or other charges.
The quoted price is it!
7) The Scenery is Better:
Flying 'low' [at or below 10,000'] has the advantage of 'better scenery'.
Passengers have the use of a hand held moving map GPS, to follow the ground track below.
8) Smoking or Non-Smoking:
     The paying passenger's choice.
9) Cell Phones can be used during flight.
10) You Feel a 'Little Bit Special'
With FBO's like Signature, you're treated somewhat differently that what you're used to, vis-à-vis those 'flying buses'. [And Hal does likewise.]

DISADVANTAGES
1) Weather:
We have to fly low [at or below 10,000'], where we are more prone to the effects of bad weather:
Whereas the airlines fly at the flight levels [above 18,000'] with much 'weather avoidance'.
2) Distance Limitation:
Our slower speed [165 mph] generally limits us to a 500 mile trip radius
[with the required 1 hour reserves]. [Lighter loads trips can extend to 800 miles.]
3) Delays:
     Icing in clouds in the winter, and thunderstorm squall lines in the summer;
are two scenes we don't fly in. The airlines - flying higher - have less constraints in weather flying.
4) Noise
You are sitting 8' from two - four cylinder reciprocating engines turning some 2300 rpm. Optional headsets may dim some of the noise, but this is no 'whisper jet' most are used to.
5) No Meals Are Served.
6) No "frequent Flyer" savings plans.
7) No Restrooms.
Here's where good planning comes in. The Crossville Airport has 24 hour restroom facilities for use before the flight. OK, we do carry 2 "HERE's" [Human Element Range Extenders] and a towel, but that's it.
