June 8th, 1961  The Army Transportation Research Command officials and the press got the first glimpse of the Rocket Belt at the demonstration held at Fort Eustis, VA. The Rocket Belt was one of a number of the Army Transportation Research Command's presentations of new and experimental projects they were currently working on. Wendell Moore, the inventor, and his wife Norma flew to Ft. Eustis in Wendell's Stinson 'Voyager'. Hal opted to ride with Bell driver Max Kowalski in the van carrying the rocket belt equipment.
